2. General information

wostrahlung is a private, advertising-funded information site that displays official radiation readings. Personal data are only processed to the extent technically necessary to operate the site. This site does not set any cookies of its own and does not use any analytics, tracking or advertising services. The measurement data of the Bundesamt für Strahlenschutz (incl. EURDEP), the US Environmental Protection Agency EPA (RadNet), Health Canada, Taiwan's nuclear regulator NSC and the Safecast citizen network, as well as the wind data from Open-Meteo, are retrieved by our server – your browser does not connect to these providers.

3. Server log files & hosting

When you access the site, technically necessary access data are processed (IP address, date and time, requested resource, referrer, browser type/user agent) in order to deliver the site and ensure its secure and stable operation. These data are not merged with other data sources and are deleted after a short time. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in secure operation).

4. Delivery via Cloudflare (CDN)

The site is delivered via the content delivery network of Cloudflare, Inc. (USA) as a processor. Cloudflare processes visitors' IP addresses and may set a technically necessary security cookie (e.g. __cf_bm to fend off automated attacks). This involves a transfer of data to the USA; Cloudflare is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. Further information: cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.

5. Map display (OpenStreetMap)

To display the map, map tiles are loaded directly from servers of the OpenStreetMap Foundation (St John’s Innovation Centre, Cowley Road, Cambridge, United Kingdom). In the process, your IP address is transmitted to OpenStreetMap; this is technically necessary to display the map. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. Further information: osmfoundation.org/wiki/Privacy_Policy.

6. Location detection (optional)

If you use the “Show my region” function, your browser asks for permission and determines your location. The coordinates are used exclusively locally in your browser to centre the map and are not transmitted to or stored on our servers. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR (consent via the browser permission).

7. Affiliate/partner programmes

This site is funded through affiliate programmes. Links marked accordingly (*) lead to online shops; if you buy something there, we may receive a commission. When you click on such links, the respective providers set their own cookies to attribute the purchase. We have no influence on their data processing; the providers' privacy policies apply. 8. Your rights

You have the right of access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and to object to processing (Art. 21 GDPR). You can withdraw any consent you have given at any time with effect for the future. To do so, please contact the email address given above.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. The authority responsible for us is the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information of Baden-Württemberg (Landesbeauftragter für den Datenschutz und die Informationsfreiheit Baden-Württemberg).
